Filter outflow question

I have a aqua tech over the back filter and a eheim canister filter on my 55g and today I cleaned my canister really good and it's outflow is hard and was wondering if I should put the outflow pointing down into the tank to make a current like a powerhead Or should I make it flow accross the top to keep the top moving

I would go with flow across the top
