Owners of large wet/dry filters, what do you use to catch large particles in your water?

I want to replace the material that is used as main mechanical filtration in my system. It sits upon a drip tray and it is now old and tired and clogs too easily. I have searched around and haven't been able to find anything. I even called the place where I got the system and they want $25 for new pad, seems like a rip off to me as there is nothing special about the material.

My system runs at about 5000 GPH. Here's a pic of it. Thanks.

Search ebay for "micron filter material". You can get sheets of 3'x6' filter material for $12.00 and cut it to size. For my filter, I get about 18 pads from a single sheet that I change out weekly.

I also alternate between 100 and 25 micron size, but the 25 micron clogs within about 2 days so I use it on the weekend to polish...

25 micron won't work as I'm flowing 5000 GPH. I've tried it and the water doesn't flow through fast enough, it will flood my floor. I don't think 100 micron will work either. I need something fairly porous to handle the water flow.

I have 3000 gph going through mine and it has no issues with clogging up. If you want to check it out before you buy a huge roll, you can find a couple square feet of the same filter media in most lfs. That way you can try it before buying alot of it.

Yeah, I'm concerned with too much water sitting on top of it and not able to flow through and then ending up on my floor.

I need to find something that I can cut to 25 in X 15 in (L X W).
