I've just added an aqua clear 20 to my already establised tank which is running on a AC 50,,,,,the reason , is so that ican use the 20 on a smaller tank,,,,,,,any idea how long this will take to establish it self??

2-3 weeks sounds about right.

I kind of have the same question here but in my case its a wet/dry filter.. with bio balls. what if i added a bacteria like biospira to speed up the process because I am already fighting ammonia problems and 2-3 weeks is not really and option.. any suggestion?

bioshere will speed it up but not much shaves off a week or so best way is to impregnate with host bacteria from an established filter squezze the foam onto the balls or some gravel from an ebstablished tank added to your tank most of the bacteria is from those places if you cant do this them perform lots of water changes to control the ammonia use a test kit to determine how much is needeed
