I have 1 Fluval 206 not working for over a year. It seems to leak at the seal, my lfs is pretty cool and will try to fix it but its just parts id pay. It's not a killer filter buy a long shot but I wanted to think about added all bio balls and running it as an extra filter. Is it worth the money to fix the issue. I run a 2 ac110's and my U4 underwater filter as a sponge setup. I also have a Big sized sponge filter running as a 2nd air source. I find it helps with clarity from all driftwood and sand.Would running something like that be worth it for just the extra bio?

Thanks

The Seals are very inexpensive, I'd fix it even if it was a extra. If it's a 06 then it can't be very old They have a three year warranty try to get hagen support to replace it for you it only takes a few minutes.

I'll give it a whirl. I tried the the seal, it still wasn't working right. This was all after hurricane Irene last year. Just got around to noticing it in my attic.

They tend to also leak around the nozzle input that snaps the hoses to the canister. And this may be a stupid question but when you replace the seals use Vasaline or silicone gel on all the seals. I do believe it would offer more Bio than your U4. Use Ceramic or matrix though. I would just tell them it started leaking they will usually trouble shoot and replace the bad parts being a 06 it has to be under warranty. I run some 406's they are OK I was suprised by the flow from them. Not sure about what size tank or bioload? I have oscars you can always use Bio with them:). I've got one that loves to stuff his mouth and spit it up the input, I swear he does it on purpose they seem to like to develope these little little games sorta like playing in the filter flow!
