I am currently setting up my new tank 55gal aquascaping FW tank. Currently I have been debating my filter situation. I currently have a fluval 305 but was planning on upgrading to the 404 because I noticed they were considerably cheaper on ebay. I was planning on making the purchase at the end of this week. By ive noticed in other post people talking about the Eheim series. Specifically the 2217 canister filter. I looked it up and liked what I saw with 2217 and the 2215 filter. I just wanted to know if anyone with experience with either of the filters would share advise which one they preferred.

you can't go wrong with the Eheim...Besides excellent filtration it will be around in 20+ years doing the same job...look at the power consumption aspect as well.
The Fluvals seem to have the little parts that are always breaking, like impellers, clips, etc...

My advise is Eheim, less money in the long run.

I have two 404s that I got off ebay. Though both seem to work well. Cheaper than an eheim, but not as well reviewed.

2217

2215!
