i know people say you can never have too much filtration. but i recently put a whisper 30 on my 10 gallon exodon tank.
exodons are like bala sharks and if you turn the lights on/off, walk by, make sudden movements they scatter around, kicking up sand and whacking their skulls against the glass.
the whisper 30 i have on there vibrates the tank alot and makes a rattling noise which i think is riling them up and over all stressing them out. i took it apart and cleaned the rottor, o-rings, and washed it clear of any sand particles and debris that could be making it have an annoying rumbling "errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" sound.
to compare i put my aqua tech 5-15 filter back on and it was MUCH quieter and didn't vibrate the tank at all. i ran the whisper 30 without water and plugged it into the wall to see if it was loose parts whacking the sides but it was quiet like a fan without any water in it. just as SOON as i put it in the water and fire it up it makes an annoying rumble that rattles the glass and man i wanna shoot whoever invented it...
any help?
