Hi i am looking for filter socks to add to the start of my sump, they would first go through them then into a bed of sponges before getting to the bio media, but i just don't know which micro is best i don't want to small that it clogs to quickly.

Kind Regards Andrew

I Always kept 3 for each sock port in rotation, while one was in use, one was being bleached and one drying out.
As to what mciron, it depond o what size and stocking levels of fish.
Smaller micron for small fish, low stocking levels, larger for fish like medium cichlids, moderate stcking, and larger yet for large fish such as oscars etc,.

I keep Central American cichlids exclusively and I only use Aquatic Experts socks in 100 micron but the downside is I have to change them almost daily in every tank. I have well over 60 socks and I don’t notice a huge difference with 200 micron with water clarity but I can get an extra day from them. So since I’m changing socks so often I just run what gives me the best clarity so it’s always 100 micron for me.

Good advice above. My sump has four filter socks and I use two 200 micron and two 100 micron socks. IMO 200 micron socks are sufficient in most cases.
