I'm a little skeptical about doing this to clean my filter socks or maybe just thinking out loud with a little guidance.

Use Unscented Bleach with no washing machine soap and air dry (no machine drying) right?

My other worry is I have the newer washer/dryers. N they use the new soaps. I see left over soap where you load up the washer, that leads me to believe that there is still soap inside the machine even if I rinse out the Loading part of the machine.

Has anyone had problems with this or does air drying do the trick??

I bleach my micron cartridges and let them air out for 5-6 days.
No problems.
If you wanted to be extra safe, or put the sock back in use faster, soak in a water/dechlorinator bath.

Oh good one. I use Prime ;)

Do you toss yours in the washer or manually wash them then soak'em in bleach?

The micron cartridges I used for my magnum 350 needed to be cleaned with bleach. I just let it sit in bleached water overnight and in the morning I rinse till I can hardly smell bleach. Then I soak in prime water for another day then dry. I probably wouldn't chance it with the washer but that's just me.

I they are real dirty just use a bleach solution. When clean, rinse them well and let sit in a bucket of clean water with dechlorinater for 8-24hours. Rinse again and then let air dry.

Some of you guys are working too hard. I just throw them in my washer(a front loader) with some bleach and while they're washing, I replace them with a spare set of socks. Two sets of socks means never soaking anything or waiting for anything to dry or really any hassle at all. I am, however, of the opinion that letting them dry isn't necessary anyway. Mine don't smell like bleach at all after a short 18 minute wash cycle and they're bright white and clean as new.

I have several sets so I don't need to wait. I throw them in the washer on the 'heavy' setting and use water only, no bleach or soap. After the spin cycle they're pretty much dry.

I don't really see the need for bleach. I don't care to get whites whiter! The way I see it, bleach is for getting stains out. The wash cycle is what is actually gonna get all the particles out and leave it actually clean.

I guess my thinking is that I want to kill anything living in the sock when I wash it. The whiteness is just a bonus =)
