I work third shift. When I got home this morning everything was good. Filter running smooth etc... well I just woke up and the filter wasn't running. Unplugged it and plugged it back up. Nothing. Just wondering if neone might have ne ideas as to what happened. Its an aqua clear 500 on my 30 gallon. Good thing I had an extra one but my back up is loud so I don't really want to run it to long since its in the living room and annoying.

Impeller could have "gunk" in it.

Use a chop-stick or something similar and try to nudge it while it is plugged it. It should start immediately if that's the problem.

When smaller ACs stop working on me, I very gently pull up on the intake tube to barely separate it from the impeller. This has worked for me to get the filter going again.

Just move the intake J tube to the low volume side and stick something down into the impeller chamber and make sure it's spinning. This happens when there is a brown out and the impeller gets stuck by debris and doesn't restart like it's suppose to. I have a wooden skewer stick near my AC's just for this situation.

I did what u said alex and it took right off. I dunno what stopped it. Only thing is my small mbuna was under the tube when I did it and he got sucked up into the filter. I turned it off and got him out. Don't seem to have cut him up. He is alive and swimming but he moving slow. I guess that stressed him to no end. Hope he lives. Didn't think he was small enough to go up that tube. I've swapped intakes now so that don't happen again.
