hello. im trying to get a new tank but the width space is very limited. what kind of filter would be good if space is a factor? other den just a normal whisper hang on back filter. i was thinking canisters? but wut kind? any suggestions? thanks in advanced.

How big is your tank? Canister filters are good.. If you have a wooden stand they hide nicely under there and dont take up any extra room.. Ehiem is the best from what I hear.. I cant remember which one I have...

im planning on gettin a 60 gallon

canister filters do save space more than any other filters if you are looking into saving space inside your tank. I do have an xp3 by Rena and it works great on my 60 gal tank. if you're not too sensitive with your budget i would try to get the new fx5 fluval. a lot of people have great experience with it. you can find the opinions and comments of fellow MFK. just search under fx5. but personally for me i would go on a wet/dry filter in the long run it will save money and better filtration. but $$$ is a lot more.:)

900+ gallons an hour might be a little much for a 60. I would get a filter that pushes 300+ gallons a hour, and has at least a liter of biomedia, and that should be just about right for some heavy bioload.

yeah, your right.... :) but i do have a question on those cansiters... their flow rate is based on zero feet or one foot... if the canister is at least 3 ft high going to the tank that would mean a loss on pressure. just a though. not fighting about it.:)
