Hi I just wanted to know if you could put sand in a tank with the emperor 400 filter as the filtration unit

yes you can as long as you dont put the input tube taking the water into the filter to close to the bottom. But it also depends on what type of fish you put in that tank as well, if their aggressive they could get into the sand and make it go into the filter clogging it quicker.

leave the filter tube at least 4-6 inchs away from bottom and you should be fine
