:woot: anybody know which would cirulate more water per hour eheim 2026 or a danner mag 7 pump would be for a 55 gallion tank with 4 axolotls

Here are the stats on the Eheim
Tanks up to 92 gal (350 L) Pump output 251 gph (950 lph) filter circulation 172 gph (650

Not sure what that pump is, but not sure it would be a good comparison, just becuase there is a mass flow, it doesn't always mean the water is being filtered well. Eheims have always been on the low end of output, but are amongst the best if not the best filters on the market. The 2026 would serve a heavily stocked 55 very well.....

My guess would be that the Mag 7 pump would circulate more water....

I use a 2026 on my 100gallon (which has a smaller internal unit also) & feel its a superb bit of equipment. It offers a good flow with the spray bar & has made a big difference in the tank. The bio load of the unit is good too

I love my Eheim 2026. DO NOT USE HIGH AMOUNTS OF CURRENT WITH THESE GUYS. If you have a strong pump I would recommend diffusing the flow rate quite a bit. These guys do very poorly in warm temperatures (above 77F) or fast moving currents. Eheims come with a diffuser already, I would point this into the glass, and have the intake farther away. They need high amounts of oxygen. I don't recommend keeping them with fish, as their gills will get nipped off. If you see the external gills flapping rapidly, there is not enough oxygen.
