Hey guys currently 3 Cariba Piranha's in a 75g tank, running a penguin 300 70g with 2 biowheels is this a good enough filtration for these guys, dong 1-2 gravel vacs a week for poopy and 1 25% wc a week. is this enough

u should prob have like like 4 to 5 tunrover since they messy

I wuld deff upgrade your filter as piranha are waste factorys. They have a high intake wich makes a high waste production. I wuld add a canister filter to your curent filter selection. And mabe another hob filter. A couple good powerheads will also help s they eliminate dead spots or atleast minimize them and by doing so help keep waste from settleing as much.

higher turn over rate would be better but test your water as they grow bigger. as long as you can keep the parameters in check you'll be ok. if the filter cannot keep up with the bio load then you need to upgrade. if you do not want to run too many filters on one tank then just try to find a good deal on FX5 new or used in good condition. one FX5 will be enough to filter the 75g, just load up the trays with bio media.

1 Marineland 300 won't create very good surface aggitation for 75 gal. If it were me I'd add another plus a powerhead that faces the surface. You can get plastic cage media cartridges for the marinelands now that will hold Bio-Rings this will increase your filtration greatly.

that sounds good to me not as spendy, what do you guys think, another penguin 300 on the other side and then a power head, i also have a small 10g filter in the mid jsut to push around water, rmember these little guys are still like an inch, so do you guys think that will be okay, i dont know much about power heads tho any 1 got a good link to one that would be okay not to spendy? what do you mean a power head that faces the surface like one on the bottom of the tank facing up or one on the serface, sry for some many questions new to these little guys, by far my fav fish so far tho

Otherone can yo ulink me these bio rings

there like little ceramic rings and they come in milk carton looking thing at any of your LFS

they should be ok i have a 2 pretty powerful powerhead in my piranha tank and there pretty small still too (10-2")...they LOVE to play in it..they fight each other for the best spot in the current its pretty entertaining

thats sick, so total ill have a 10g filter just for current, 2 70 gal penguin 300's and one power head, should i put the power head under water on the bottom or what, never used a power head, how do powerheads work do they hook up to anything or what cuz i dont have a canister just a penguin 350 70 gal filter... so i have nothing to hook it up to or is it jsut its own thing its self, also how do you know which one is for your tank do they go by tank size or GPH

Also is there any way to get this poop cleaned up better i have only had them in the tank for 24 hrs and already a decent ammount of dodo on the sand :( or is gravel vac once a week still good enough?

you can also try to use powerhead to keep all the poop suspended in water column, and hope eventually they will get pick up by your filter.
