Simply to put it; currently, my 522 tank runs on a OHF with 8 trays.

I've been reading alot on canister filters and wondering should I purchase an eheim canister filter?
if so, what models are recommended for my 522 tank which holds about 550 litres.
And should I use them both?

I lack of experience and advises are deeply appreciated, kudos to all ;D

p.s. if any extra information is needed, please let me know.

An 8 tray OHF sounds pretty good for a tank about ~150 US Gallons. My 150g tank has 6 gallons of bio balls in an over-tank sump (same idea as any OHF) and I use a canister filter as well, just as a water polisher. Plus as MyGiants stated, can never have too much filtering.

I see. thanks!

So it'll be good to have both OHF and an eheim running at the same time.
Both are doing the same job, yes? or would eheim canister significantly improve the water quality (water poliser)?

OHF + Canister filter = awesome!
The canister improves water clarity, as they are usually filled with material designed to trap much more particulates than a sump or OHF. Because a sump/OHF uses a wet/dry setup, its extremely well at biological filtration. The down side is that it does not trap the really small particles.

Use both. You should have crystal clear water!

I see! thanks a bunch bro! ;D

If you get the Eheim I would get the Eheim 2262. I know it is available at BigAlsonline. If you don't get the 2262 then go for the 2260. Same size canister just different size pumps.

i was thinking of model 2080 though. But since you mentioned it, 2262/2260 are much better perhaps?
