Hey all. Im considerrng getting a 100 to 125 gallon tank for either a cichlid community or big cichlids, oscars, blue dolphins or malawi eye biters.

I understand that best filterations are not cheap, whilst that is true not so expensive filterations do work just as well.

I am up for any suggestions to any varieties of filterations that could effectively filter the tank to crystal clear daily with the bio load that it will have.

Atm im thinking of having 2 internal mechanical filters, one at either end to flow water to the middle where either a hang on filter or canister will be flowing from the middle.

Any suggestions will be appreciated :)

Do this, and you will be in GREAT shape.

Go to doctor foster and smith's website-fish section
And buy, 2 Emperor 400s (HOB), and 1-2 XP3 or XP4 canister filters.

Hope this helps, cant do much better than that.

i went with 2 x Cascade 1500, 2 x cascade 300 HOB's for my 125gal pbass tank. But, i also only had 5 fish in there. Cascade worked for me intill i got my fx5.

Well, doc. fosters is cheap.. I think the emp 400s are like 40 each and XP3 is around 90 each. Half the price than LFS.
