Just trying to get some intel, seems everyone favors the the wet/dry systems with use of bioballs.

But haven't seen anyone mention UV, just no one uses it?

Im setting up two Ray tanks, a 125g and 210g, the 210g i plan to use a 55g for filteration under it.

for the 125g was thinking Dual AC110's and possibly UV?

Bio-balls are not very good, your better off using plastic bio-beads from a company like aquatic ecosystems. Reason being one cubic foot of bio balls has something like 230 square feet of surface area for bacteria, bio bead have over 750 square feet for the same cubic foot thats a big difference. And of course your better off using UV most people use it I know I do.

I have wetdry with bioballs also have lots of submerged media eheim substrate pro and ceramic rings along with others also run FBF filters on the sump and oceanclear canisters with chemipure and mechanical and bio

forgot to add new UV is on its way twin 40watt

Looks like will be adding UV. I've seen the DIY couple threads on the scrub cleaning things for bio filteration, unique. I kinda figured with bioballs using majority of the 55g, be easy to clean out versus the sponge plastic things, as just be able to pull out bunch clean them from time to time easily with/out a mess

I would use canisters or buy a overflow and do a sump on the 125 would be much better filtration than 2 ac110s

I had more issues with UV than what I had without. It could have been coincidence, but the only time fish in my ray tank have died is when I was running UV. Is it possible for it to not allow the fish to build a tolerance to certain things? Does it not allow their immune system to do it's job? Just food for thought.

Right now I'm just running a large wet/dry and a drip system. It's working flawlessly.
