The time has just about come to begin my plywood tank build, have the basement all ripped apart, just some framing and dry walling left to do and then the build starts :headbang2

I currently have a FX5 on my 77 gallon, I was thinking of doing a sump and then have the FX5 packed full of carbon for keeping the water crystal clear. Only thing is I don't know much about sumps or how to set it up and plumb it into your system/figure out a pump, etc, so if someone could explain that too me it would be much appreciated.

The tank will be 448 gallons and hold a Silver Aro, 2x Jags, 4x Fronts and one Ray and have a few live plants.

Will be starting a build thread when I start construction!

Thanks,
Grant

I'd do a moving bed sump, 60-90 gallons with at least a 2000 gph pump on it. That's what I have on my 450 plywood build:-)

Only carbon it for the first month then do only bioballs & the moving bed sump. Otherwise you'll kill your beneficial bacteria in your sump most likely
