Im in the process of building a 1000 gal plywood tank. Just wanted some opinions on the best way to filter it. Its going to be a freshwater tank. I was thinking of using 3 fx5's but I dont know if that would be enough. Any suggestions would helpful. Thanks.

Well I have 180g sump on my 750g. It is loaded with bioballs, and Matrix. 2 pumps a 4800gph and a 2400gph. I have a pretty hefty bioload as well. The auto changer does 70g a night 6 days a week

I would go with a sump as well, you can get a plastic stock tank farely cheap and design your own. An alternative would be to use a sand filter like you would find on a pool. The fx5's would make a good backup but depending on your bioload I wouldn't think they would be enough.
