i just stepped up from a 55 gal and i am wondering if my filteration is up to the task ? just bought a fx5 and reuseing my topfin 60 i also own a 24 watt big green killing machine . my stock is two yelow african cichlids and 2 electric blue cichlids . 3 inches each 2 convicts 2 inches . 3 clown loach 4 inch each . 3 placos 8 inches each . i was thinking of getting rid of the top fin and gettng a ac70 or ac110 what do u guys recomend thanks ..

well i have lots of bubbles on the one side of my tank and if i put my top fin is over there it sucks air and is noisey . so i was not sure if the ac 70 would do the same ?

I have 2 Fx5 running on my 120g. However, I keep Dats and Polys, but it should be fine with your stock as well.

I've used a AC110 in the past. They are pretty quite and a good filter. I switched over to all canisters so it's just sitting there as a back up.

how often do you have to clean your fx5 ? this is my first canister filter and i just set up my tank last sunday

I clean the one filled with Bio once every 6 months. The other is more Chemical and Mechanical which gets cleaned once every 3-4 months.

oh cool thats not to bad . think i will pick up ac110 and get rid of my air bubles . will fish have enough air with out a air stone? with those two power filters on and the fx5 circulating water ?
