So here is my idea. I would like to incorporate some SERIOUS media usage as well as aquaponics. The water flow can't be strong but must turn over a decent amount of gallonage per hour.

Here is the basic layout. The blue represents a chamber (perhaps 8'x1'x1') spanning the length of the pond and sitting above it.

Sorry for the ghetto picture. I was just curious if this design would even be effective :)
Should the water pour over the media?
Any suggestions on how the water should return to the pond?
Remember it can't flow too strong. My new ray won't like that very much ;)

you should have some short tubes for the water to go back into the tank, otherwise it will just drip down the side of it, and depending on how its installed could cause a leaking issue

you are also going to run into problems with flow out of the chamber because it wont filter/flow all the way to the end of your pond.
I would suggest having and overflow into your chamber, so that it gives you even distribution throughout the 8ft

ya i would prob have the water pump in one end then have a couple large stand pipes at the other end or even a few through out to drain back in.

i would also have some sort of filter tray...

Contact iitufftobeatii. He did a similar thing with a gutter on his 500. He had powerheads pump up on each end and had a couple stand pipes along the gutter cut to the height that he wanted the water. Also he drilled 2 holes on the front side of the gutter as an overflow.
