BACKGROUND: I'm about to setup a 125 gallon, freshwater setup with a five inch arowana and 2 four inch oscars and a eight inch pleco.

QUESTION: What's the best filter for me, the best investment I can make?

CHOICES: Marineland C-530-, Fluval FX5, Rena Filstar XP4?

lol depends on how often youd like to be cleaning filters...... the biggest prob is you have 3 mess makers.. the oscars and the pleco.. which not now but when full grown make more waste than they clean... the arro is fine.. um.. id say the fx5 shud be fine... i mean me personally i love overkill lmao so id add 2 emperor 500's

What is an emperor 500 when did this come out ?

I reccomend the FX5 over the others.

oh , I feel ya 100% . lol you got me though I did a google search for any new marineland 500

The best investment you can make is to get into sump filtration early on in your fish keeping career and you will never look back.

Millions of fish keepers mess around with canisters for decades before getting into sumps and then realize what they have been missing.
