What is the best heater everyone has used?
Best for how
Accurate it is
long of a life
good it is for not cracking
And what does everyone think about Visitherm or titanium heaters?

Also out of everyones own experience or from other peoples what do you think is a better filter
A fluval 404 or a Rena XP3 cause i have lots of good things about rena filters so just wondering and also how many gallons is a fluval recommend for?
Thanks

I like Ebo-Jager heaters, real high quality. Visa Therms are ok but I have had and seen my share of them fail. I have recently been using the "pro-Heat" digital titanium heater, I like it alot, works very well, better than the other ones I mentioned.

Many times, it's the thermostat that fails in the moderetly priced heaters. I have used heater / chiller controllers to operate my heaters before. They are not cheap but are a great "saftey" device to prevent a heater getting stuck on and cooking your fish.

If price is truley no problem, the heaters aimed at aqua culture are likley the "best" heaters. I own one that I used on my main saltwater system that I liked very much. It was very expensive but performes flawlessly, I have almost 0 fluctuation in tempature. It is refered to as a "Immersion" heater, I'm using the titanium 3 tube "L" type.

A good aqua culture company will have these (like aquatic eco systems), won't find them in per shops.....

I don't like canister filters, if I was going to use one it would not be the Fluval. I can't coment on the XP3, never used one. If I were forced to use a canister it would be an Ehiem....

the one thing i really like about the visitherm heaters is that they come with a life time warrenty has anyone ever had a problem with the company

First, I don't think any of the commercial pet shop filters are any good anymore. I used to like ebojager but since marineland started making them I feel the quality has gone downhill. My three old(3+years) ebojager(not marineland made) are still working perfectly and the three new(under 2 years) marineland ebojager have started fluctuation. Thermostat problem. I'm going to be pruchasing a titanium heater with external controller next.

As for filters, go with the XP3 or an eheim. Really all a filter is used for is to help collect crap(so you can remove it easily) and support the bacteria to keep the system stable. Which both of the mentioned filters do. Fluval is just a pain in the butt to start. I use them but wouldn't buy another.

I didn't know Ebo was now Marine land, what a shame.

I had two Visa-therms short out in the last two weeks, I am un aware of a gaurantee policy that will cover thier replacement.

Where are the terms of this "lifetime replacement" outlined?

I like the XP3 too

pro heat for the heater, and rena for cannister(EHEIM would be better). On another note you didnt mention what size tank you would be heating. If you have under 100 gallons a good buy is Via Aqua. I have a couple of these heaters and they are great.
