Filters for 55g

Hey guys getting back into the fish hobby now and as i last Hob filter broke i wanted to get 2 new filters. I am going to the mall today and am going to stop in the petshop and wanted to pickup 2 filters to may be over filtrate my tank

That's up to your tastes. A 55g is small enough to do some DIY with powerheads and containers. You might already have enough stuff laying around to build your own effective filters. Or just get a couple of AquaClears and split the duty of mechanical and biological.

Yea i was thinking of making my own , but my german shepherds bed is right next to the tank stand in my room and he gets into EVERYTHING. I was thinking of 2 aquaclear 110's

Don't know what im putting in there yet though, just figureed id rather have good filtration

I have one emperor 350 and a 150 biowheel on my 55, does an awesome job.

I had a 8" common pleco and a 14" Albino Tiger Oscar that got fed live feeder fish all the time.....which is very messy. Right now I have a 7" Lace Tail Catfish and a ton of ghost shrimp till i pick somthing else out to go in there.
