ok so i may be picking up a 120 soon and it comes with a fluval canister filter "not sure what kind"
anyway so i was going to buy an ac110 but then i thought it only does 500 gph and for 70$ ehh
so i found this http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=16729
the 75 model does 350 gph and it is less than half the price of an ac110
so i think im going to get 2 of those instead
the only thing im worried about is the surface skimmer, is that ok for freshwater?

I doubt you have to use the surface skimmer. I think its worth trying those filters; then you can tell us about them lol. AC110s are a lot cheaper on ebay, BTW.

Hey, if you're lucky it'll be an FX5. Doubt it though...

ok ya well i really dont see anything on my tanks that needs to be skimmed off the surface so...

ttt

What all do you have filtering right now?...

the HOB with skimmer might be the same concept, basically, but is the filtration part of that HOB, up for the task of converting the surface waste into nitrates...
