I'm new to aquariums and need to know what everyone uses. What they think is best. Right now i have a 55 set up with a marine land 220 and Aqueon 55.
Soon I'll be setting up a 75. it seems a lot of people here like the AC's 70 or 110. Is a HOB and a cannister the best way to go? Or would 2 AC's be better on the 75? AC's seem more like a cannister than the Aqueons. 2 Ac's would be cheaper than getting a cannister ,if they work just as well i might go that way. Should i get 2 70's or a 70 and a 110? Would that be better than a Marineland 220 and any HOB?

I would stay away from any HOB that used its own type of cartridges. That is what I like about the AC filters, you can rinse that sponge out easily and reuse for a very long time. I like having the AC filter too for ease of cleaning. Takes very little time for a clean up compared to my canisters but the canisters go longer before cleanings, so in the end its about the same.
