So as my P's get bigger and they decimate even more food, I'm beginning to think about maybe getting a bigger filter.

I've currently got a 60 gallon tank with 3 pirahnas in it. The two of the P's are at 4 inches now, and my 3rd is at 4.5 inches. Considering how messy these guys are, how much GPH should I be rotating, and should I be looking to get canister. I'm honestly not sure about the differences between canister and the hang-over filters, other than their placement.

I would also like to apologize before hand if this is in the wrong forum. I know there is a filter forum, but I'd like to see what other Pirahna owners are using.

Thanks :)

what kind of filtration do you have now? canister are good b/c they can hold a ton of bio media. i like to use the xp3 for a canister on my p's tank.

I'm usin' a hang-over filter that runs 330gph.

yea if you add a ac110 that should be fine. just load one of you hob with bio media and the other with mechanical media. then jsut do weekly water change and you should be fine.

Your 60 gallon is going to be small for your guys for life, but for now a good GPH to shoot for is 600gph, about a 10x turnover rate. I would add another HOB with about the same flow rate as the one you allready have to get that goal. A cannister is good but not too cost effective. In your situation adding another large HOB will give you the best bang for your buck!

I've got 220 back at my parents' house. While I'm at college though, I'd rather have something small to grow them in. Apartments are hella small around here =/
