I have 4 juvinile discus in a 20 gal quarantine tank with a tetra whisper 20 on it(petsmart box special). I am going tomorrow to get a biowheel 150 to help with filtration but my 60gal tank they will be going in has a biowheel 350 on it. I have thought of upgrading to a fluval or eheim canister filter. Would it be worth the upgrade or is the biowheel 350 good enough. It appears to move decent water but is very noisey.

I would do another filter for the 60. Eheim sounds good, discus need really good filtration and clean water so adding on another filter should help.

I would go directly to a Discus specific site.
First I would lurk, just to check their Q&A.
If happy with the amount of good info avaiable, join up.
Ask your question about minimum filtration needed for a givin tank size and stock.
Just my thought.
Good luck

I am a member at simply discus and asked the same question but never got a response. I checked petsmart and they have their rena canisters on clearance. I almost bought the xp3 for $114. They had the xp2 for $89 but was sold out. I am looking at ordering the eheim 2215 classic online for just over $100.

I don't like hang ons but discuss need extremely clean water. It doesn't really matter what you get because you will be doing a water change every few days
