Ok so my 220 came with 3 emperor 400 filters. The people I bought it off of said this is the only thing they had running on it. But, I know this is not enough. The tanks dimensions are 6x2x2.5 and my current stock is :
2- 5-7" Female Festae
1-7" Black belt
2-5-7" Balas
1-5-6" Eclipse cat

Would like to add some type of canister. Found an XP4 on craigslist this morning for $120. If I added this would this be enough or should I still get more? Would like to add fish in the future so just wondering what would be my best options.

You should be OK with the XP4 and frequent water changes. I've had plenty of experience with emperor 400's in the past from tanks I've gotten off craigslist and such and I really like the filter. The only issue with them is that you have to take the spraybars apart almost weekly and clean them out or they won't turn the biowheels. I like having the extra filter box. I usually left them filled with carbon and pulled them out unless I was taking medication out of the tank or something. In place of them I usually just shove some filter floss or scrubbies in there. However, if you want the best filtration I would go with an FX5 or sump instead of the XP4. I shoot for 10x hourly turnover in my tanks but as the tanks get larger that becomes less practical with HOB filters like the emperor 400 or AC110.

Yeah I like the FX5 but I don't really have $250 to spend on a filter. I was thinking of making like a 40 gallon sump though
