i am planning a 75 - 100 gal - and here is what i have come up
with for my filtration plan:

questions:

1) the bio-ball tower - i know they are internal over-flow for the intake
but how do they exhaust water out the bottom? via powerhead? holes?

2) i plan on splitting both the intake and exhaust for the canister - despite the fact that this may restrict flow a tad, i think because of the other filtration i have, that shouldn't be a problem?

let me know what you think.....

Canisters don't work that way. They are fed by gravity, and have no suction pump. Your canister in the drawing will not run at all. We do need to see the location of the main tank, and any other pieces/parts that you intend to have.

I take it this is the main tank and every thing is in it?

Bio-balls are the last means of filtration in the system and water is flowed over them in or from you filters return.

WyldFya is correct about the canister needing to be lower then the tank, but if you drew it above just to save space you now know how literal we MFKer's are. :D (and for your own sake never draw a fish upside down :nilly: ).

didn't realize how misleading my picture was......

clarification:

1) canister will be set below the tank of course

2) bio-ball tower is inside the tank (center / middle)

3) powerhead/internal filter is obviously inside the tank also

hope that helps - sorry for the confusion...hopefully i can get some help now.....

Split the bio-balls into two sets and put one on each return (or all on one return if you don't want the clutter).
