I had to remove my 5K GPH pump to day and go back to using two QuiteOne 2200's :-( After days of battling 90F Tank water I had no choice but to remove the pump, I left a thermometer on top of the pump by mistake and the thermometer read 100F.

While I know that I ran these two pumps for almost a year with no problems I also had two 1300GPH power heads in the tank giving me extra flow, which I no longer have as they are in my FOWLR tank. I guess I will just hav to monitor closely the water in the tank, until I can replace or repair my 5k pump.

What pump was producing that kind of heat? I wish my hammerhead would heat my tank a bit, would save on the 1600w of heaters I'm using

The now discontinued Mag Drive 50. Heating the water about 20F above ambient. On a side not all winter I was happy as can be I did't even have heaters in the tank and i stayed at 84 even when it was 60 or lower in the basement. I thought this was caused by running it inline but given the massive amount of micro bubbles its producing I am guessing that because the rotor was so ate up from the sand when it was part of a reef tank that its not running correctly and is causing pump to over heat.
