This is how my other big tanks are set up but unfortunately the output is reduced to 1 inch by the predrilled returns in the tank. Hopefully, it doesn’t have issues.

I have connected a 40 breeder to 35 sump to my ultima 2000. Will next build in a automatic changer that changes 80 to 100 gallons per day.

here are some pics so far:

Really did no body not reply to this? all i see is this one post with pics? I am highly interested in what you have going on here. i recently took down a single acrylic 75 gallon tank with sump to make a new stand and add a 54L x 24W x 14 deep tank on top of it for a 2 tank system and i thinking something on the lines of this. Not an ultima for it but i do want one for a future build and highly interested in the info. I am thinking take my sump i will ad pics, remove the filter socks because well i hate them, fill the section were the k1 micro is with porret foam 40 ppi down to 10 ppi i have a 20 ppi in it now as a divider you can see, fill that hole section with foam. then were the return pump is put the heaters, then uniseal to 2 five gallon buckets filled with k1 micro about half full, then some other kind of chamber for chemical if i want it back to the tank i have not figured it all out yet. I will be hopefully building the stand this weekend ,then figuring out the rest. this gives me some idea thow i would love to throw a sand filter in there out of my price range right now thow i beleive these start at around a 1,000? every time i really try to grab some info on them not really any one using them for reference that i can find. pics for reference of my plan. this all started becuase i dont have alot of time so i had some one build me a " Nice metal stand " but this is junk, not square, not level, legs are different heights and so for so it done. On another note if you want more then the 1" return, if i was you i would put in a spitter to 2 1" from what ever size pipe you are running, run one to the return were it goes now and run one up top and over with a d.i.y spray bar

How do you handle backwashing the ultima with so little water volume in the sump?
