I recently aquired a 72 gallon tank, it came with a ac70. Obviously this is not enough filtration so what do you guys recommend? I'm thinking a ac110 or fluval 403/404.

Add an AC110 + a powerhead. Best bang for the buck.

If canister, go with Rena xp

+1 on the ac110.

But if you go canister fx5 for sure, that way when you upgrade you already have a bad ass filter that can handle big tanks! My old xp4 was a little finicky and flow was weak, its great for bio, and ac110 mechanical.

But fx5 will do both great on a 72, my 90 had ac110 and fx5 and that was a mean combo, but my 125 has fx5, hydor korilia 1450gph circulator, SF, Pfs and I've never vaced to this day.

You can find fx5 for 240-260$

I would just add another ac110 and powerhead/wavemaker and call it a day. I have two ac110's on my 75 for the past year and never had one issue to this day. On tanks smaller than 100 I personally think hob is the way because of the ease of maintenance and customization.

I don't really want to spend too much on filters considering the tank was free :D Unless I can find a dirt cheap fx5 lol

I guess I'll go with a ac110, and I will definitely be putting pothos in the tank too.

If these are your only option, then I would add the canister filter(FLUVAL 403/404).............
