I finally talked my wife into letting me get a new reef ready tank, so I put my order in for a perfecto 265. After I figure out how to get a 500pound tank into the basement I will need to set it up. My plan is to run two wet/dry filters / sumps....homemade of course. Anyways I was wondering if 2 of these pumps would work

or would the overflows not be able to keep up? I will also be running an ASM protein skimmer rated for 400gal.

It depends. You have to factor in many different factors such at the hole drain size in your overflow and headloss.

The problem I have is that I could not find the specs for the overflows on the tank. I saw a website selling reef ready perfecto tanks and they said that their overflows flow 700gph, but they did not say if that was for all tanks or just a particular tank. I will do some more searching for tube/hole size.

If it really is only 700gph then the pump you listed might be good depending on your head height. Assuming your 265g is like my 240g. My head height is about 4ft so you get about 1400gph from one pump which would be almost perfect for you (assuming you have 2 overflows). However, thats only 5x turnover, which is too low for a reef tank i think. My friend has a reef tank with a turnover of 15x. reef tank require a higher turnover rate vs freshwater from what i know.

I am no expert so someone else should chime in =]
