I currently have my Oscar chillin in a 75, but I am thinking about moving him to a 150 gallon and not adding any other stock. Would a Eheim 2217 keep up with with the load?

I could do a sump but space under the stand is not usable and it is in the living room so I would rather not. (also I would have to buy everything, so I would rather spend the same for another canister)

Also does anyone els's Oscar bite them when they clean the tank?

Thanks people!

Well, cost is a problem. I can get a 90 gallon for $150 if that is cheaper than outfitting the 150 gallon. Of course, then I would have to build a stand and hood as well as outfit the 90.... :(

THe ehiem 2217 would be a suitable choice! I have 2 albno tiger oscars and they are so timid i could pet them if i wanted to they are not aggressive at all! they wont even eat feeders!

The Eheim 2217 would work fine.

Never bought a eheim i would go with a xp3 or xp4 plenty for that tank with just a oscar in it. ANd you can find xp4 brand new for around a hundred bucks online if you shop around. I wish one of the oscars i have owned in my life would act tuff. Mine have all been all bark and no bite. And a 150 would make sence but upgrading from a 75 to 90 would be pointless at least to me

Whatever you get I believe in redundancy with filters.. staggering cleaning (clean one at a time) limited bio interruption. Look on craigslist in your area.. Ive bought 2028's for 50.00 ea, FX5 for 90.00 all still working..........

FX5 great mech filter, 2217's are good for bio.

My 150 front tank has an FX5 and a 2260..tank is spotless..:headbang2

Oscars usually aren't aggressive, but when I do hear of one being aggressive, they are always completely insane glass bangers. Seems to be one way or the other. :nilly:
