im trying to decide what kind of filtration i should use for my 75g african tank. im going to have about 12 peacocks, a pleco, and a syno cat. im looking at either a AC110 and AC70 or a Eheim 2217 or a wet/dry. it would be my first time making a wet/dry but i think i understand what i need to do to make it work except figuring out what size of a return pump.

The return pump is sied by the turnover rate...5x = 375gph, 8x = 600gph.

When purchasing the pump find the flow rate needed at the head (pressure) height you will use it at.

If you have the room for a 30g sump, then go for it, otherwise hang 2 AC110's on the back for redundancy and ease of cleaning.

Smaller tanks are a matter of taste in filters (that's why there are so many out there ;)).

I run a fluval 404 on my 54 corner african tank. I have seven peacocks, a pleco and 6 synos. Granted all are under 4 inches in length and I do not intend to keep them all in there for the long run. But the filter does a great job.

On my 75 I run two fluval 404s and never have a problem.

I would opt for the wet/dry. More flow/areation, filter capasity, and can house the heater and any "extras" that would other wise take away from the aesthetics inside the tank.
