What is everyone using and why for bigger diy tanks or bigger tanks over 700 gal? Canister, wet/dry etc? Long time lurker first post, finally in the process of moving into a new house and gonna start construction of 700 gal+ tank as soon as my wife lets me start.

An Ultima II 2000 or 4000 filter, or larger (depending on the size of the tank) and/or a large sump with ceramic media and enough filter socks for good mechanical filtration. A lot of big tank owners go with Ultimas. They provide good biological and mechanical filtration, and the purging system makes for easy/minimal filter maintenance.
