filtration for saltwater

What kind of filter/ filtration should i go with for a saltwater tank?

depend? how big the tank? what fish you wanna keep or keep? pretty much you can use the same kind of filter you use for a freshie tank on a salt tank, you do need a protein skimmer though, saves you alot of work my friend.

im either goin with a 55 or 120g salt. i was goin with a protein skimmer deff. but i dont know what the best filtration would b. i was goin to go with tetratecs cause of the internal heater. didnt want the triggs to break them........should i go with an XP1 and a tetratec?

if you want a good power filter, id go with an aquaclear, 2 of the model 110 would do the job.

ive heard those are good but do u have to do something different to those than others cause of the layout of the carbon n sponge...like can u leave the bags of carbon in longer...then like a penguin 330 or similar power filters?

i have no clue...i know there is layers in those filters n i was wondering if u had to do something different for them

yea i guess, you dont have to have the carbon in, IMO i would remove it and put a chemipure in it.

If you want something similar to a penguin, go with an emperor 400

Yeah that just about covers it all...add a sump though...prefferably like 3X the gallons of the tank
