Canister may have issues drawing from the sump. (same level)
HOB that feeds sump will continue to feed sump in power out/pump fail (flood of the sump).
Canister will backflow to sump in power out/pump fail. (flooding even more)
Canister feeding HOB may flood the HOB depending on flow rate of canister.
Re-design needed here, sorry.

Ditch the sump, and stick with two power filters, and a canister. If you didn't realize you were going to have issues with the canister and sump being on the same level, then it might be best just to avoid the sump. The canister most definitely is going to have difficulty pulling water from the sump seeing as how canister filter intake works off a siphon. Here's a suggestion, (I'm assuming you are going to go with a 60-100 gallon set up) if you want some nice filtration for your discus, go with two high output customizable filters 2 AC100's, and one large canister filter Fluval 404, Rena Xp3 etc.. That should satisfy your needs.

Ok I think i am not going to go with the sump at all just the 2 HOB and Canisterfilter

They're discus, no way around multiple 50% water changes weekly, any decent filter will do the job well enough.

Discus?? Unless they're adults, you're better off with a bare bottom tank and a sponge filter and your hang on filter(since you already have them) and most importantly 40% Water Change EVERYDAY!!! There's just no way around WC for a growing discus.

Hey!! I just saw that you're from SK!!!!! I am from Regina!! Most fish keepers here are not so into discus because of our hard water and high PH but discus will adjust to our water here just fine!!! Just do that WC, I just do a straight from tap, and they'll be great. Good luck!
