Once my aquarium is done cycling I'm planning on getting a spiny eel for my tank. While researching them, I found that they need "pristine clear water" in their setup. My filtration as of now are two Aquatech 10-20s. I'm pretty sure this won't give me my desired water conditions as I'm planning on getting other fish as well. I was thinking an AC 110 or two and a sponge filter. Would that be good enough? Any other options?

Yea ac110 shouod be fine. I wouldnt go for the spong filters though. I couldnt imagine it being good enough for that eel

I recommend going with two AC70 instead of one AC110, but, yes one AC110 will work just fine

I'm planning on upgrading to a 120g in two years when my fish get too big. Could I use two AC70s on that as well?
In that case, just get two AC110 now so you can use it later on the 120

I would do TWO AC 110s.

Reason1: if one blows out you have the other as backup

Reason2: when doing maintenance you can alternate cleanings of filters. Ex. In January you clean filter #1 in February you clean filter #2 and so on. So that you don't have a cycle crash and have to restart the cycling process.

Reason 3: you can use two different types of media mechanical in one and bio in the other etc
