I have a 55 gallon tank with an AquaClear 70 and these are my ideas for it tell me which one is the best.

1. 2 sponges with 1 biomax because I don't want carbon.

2. Two biomax with one sponge

3. Three sponges

4. I have 2 pieces of Walmart aqua tech bio material so I could do that and a sponge let me know what you guys think thanks a lot in advance.

Is that a HOB?
They'll all work.
Nothing wrong with Carbon, particularly with a new system. You can also use peat-moss (from garden centre), though it'll tend to drop your pH and colour the water.
IMO: If your tank/system is reasonably aged/mature, get one of those big yellow sponges you'd use to wash your car and a sharp knife, and cut it to fit. Then put some plants in the tank, preferably filamentous long ones, maybe rooted into a nice flowerpot with gravel. That is all.

Why not just use aqua clear sponges?.
