Filtration on my 480s…

In the process of setting up the new fishroom and will have 6 480 gallons tanks stacked 3 high.

I was planning a closed loop with ultima and separate sump system with moving bed filter - if I run this with over flows for the sump with outflow and return in overflow, and then separately drill the back with 2 inch hole and two 1 inch holes for the ultima, will that work or am I thinking about this poorly.

Both the Ultima and moving bed are primarily biological filters. Not sure what you are using for mechanical filtration. Have you ever considered the line of Perflex filters by Hayward? They give you diatom filter clarity with the feature of re-coating the filter media multiple times before a new charge is needed. Can't be beat for water clarity. Also, aren't the outlets for most Ultima II models at least 1 1/2" ? You indicated 1" holes for the Ultima.
