I have a 40 gallon long with an aquaclear 110 and an eheim 2215 but when i move everything to a 90 gallon this summer what other filtration will I need I figured the aquaclear would take care of some mechanical waste and the eheim would deal mostly with the chemical filtration, but being at school the majority of the year my parents dont take the care I would be with water changes and etc.

I was thinking about possibly adding another mechanical filter like another aquaclear but I wanted someone elses opinion.

You should be fine with the above filtration on a 90 gallon tank depending on your stock list and their size's, and the eheim deals with your mech and bio filtration unless you have it packed with carbon correct me if i am wrong anyone lol. Also you won't need chemical filtration well atleast carbon unless you have foul odors or color in your water. But you should be okay with that setup on a 90 gallon depending on those factors and you could always get another AQ 110 for it if you find a good deal maybe on craigslist etc.

I'd say that's enough as it is. The AC could do that tank alone. Simply adding more filters won't make the water any cleaner, it's how you use/clean the filter that makes it work. The amount of bio-filter bacteria is the same regardless of if you have 1 or ten filters, it just spreads out over more area.

You are going to need at least 5 more ac110's or... 2 FX5's Up to you though. Must over filtrate!!! MUST OVER FILTRATE!!!!.

I'm just kidding. I think if you add that other 110 and put one on each end. Have the 2215 intake on the left and output on the right... Success.

sump and drip setup!!! that way the water changes 24/7 all by itself..

^^^^^^ There you go bro do what he said then all your parents will have to do is feed and every once in awhile suck up the waste then you won't have to worry.

you should always double your filtration so get another 110 filter

I agree its always good to have one on each side if you don't the side with the filter will be clean and the other side won't.
