not sure if this is the right place to ask, but i am planning on a picking up either a 180 gal or 240 gal to house a silver arowana. what kind of filtration. will best suit the need for this? i want something i can just go out and buy. will a fluval canister be enough? maybe 2? what are your recommendations as to what type is best use for either a 240 or a 180? thanks. :headbang2

can't wait to get it going so i can cycle my tank.

A lot of people will say wet/dry, a lot will say canister, a lot will say both.

I say wet/dry.

I like to run canisters. You should run two filters. For a 180, I'd do a Eheim 2260, 2262, 2080 or 2078, and either an FX5 or 2 AC110s. For a 240, I'd run either the Eheim 2260, 2262, 2080, and 1 FX5 and 1 AC110.

Or 1 wet/dry with 2 pumps:D

on my 125g I have a FX5 and an AC110...

I think this is minimum filtration levels for my tank.

But I do have 30-35 africans in my tank.

also forgot to add that i will have a bare bones tank. meaning just the fish, no gravel for sure. and maybe some plants with some BIG rocks.
