I have a pair of Convicts in a 55g, and on their last spawn I foolishly left both parents with the fry for longer than I should have. The male wanted to spawn again and the female was still guarding the fry, she got roughed up pretty bad.
After a few days I noticed the fins weren't really improving so I removed the carbon from both my filters and started a regiment of Melafix, I dosed daily for 7 days, then did a 50% weekly WC, then another 7 day treatment, the results are better than I could have imagined.

Many missing scales, a damaged left pectoral fin and the caudal fin was destroyed to the base:
After 1 week of Melafix
Pectoral heal and scale damage all healed
Caudal fin showing improvement
After a few more days:
After 2 weeks of Melafix
plus a handful of days, I stopped dosing last Tuesday, it has been 21 days since the attack
If any of my fish sustain any damage in the future, I plan on using Melafix...
