so i've had the aro for about a week now and he's eating and swimming like a champ. my only concern is that he has lost about a centimeter's worth of fins on the top. Picture is one off the internet but I marked the area in red that is now missing.

what happened was: my hands were in the tank putting in plants and he got all skiddish and went to hide but ended up behind the heater, as soon as i noticed that i nudged him and he moved but had a mark on his scales right below the spot where he is now missing fins. for 2 days it was looking better and now all of a sudden he is missing some fins. could the heater be to blame?

girlfriend is a marine biologist and she says it looks more like another fish caused trauma than a burn however there aren't any aggressive fish in there with him. discus, clown loaches, rummynose tetras, pleco... and it happened in the exact spot where he was leaning on the heater... :(

i hope he doesn't lose any more. will they grow back or is it bone and permanent?

thanks for the help

picture is photoshopped to show area of missing fins and "burn?"

I've experienced that before because my gar always bites my silver causing it to lose scales and fins, but rock salt and a divider eased my problem, but I'm not sure about your arowana.

Your photoshop doodles make it a bit difficult to see the missing fins. Can you post it without that?

as i said, it's an image i took off the web and photoshopped the doodles on. i dont have any pictures of the aro with the missing fins. shouldn't matter though, do fins regenerate?

Fins/scales should grow back! No worries.
