do fish fins regenerate and grow back once they have been injured and missing?

fish touched a heater and over the next 2 days the fins that touched the heater went missing. i think that fins are bone and therefor will not come back but i just wanted to make sure.

fins grow back as long as the damage didn't go all the way down to the body, but generally they do grow back if the damage isn't terrible.

it didnt look terrible on the first day at all, less than a 1st degree burn on a human (to put it in perspective). barely a mark on the guy. then the fins started to fray and now missing. most damage is down to the body, poor guy, he's been eating fine so i'm sure he's alright. about 1cm of fins are missing now and he is a total of 22-25cm's in length. (arowana)

I would think the fins would regenerate. My silver was always getting his fins shredded when he was small. They've all grown back fine.
