I noticed on my new ornate the other day that it seems to be missing one of the dorsel finlets (I guess thats what you'd call it). Looks like the whole thing is missing and I don't remember if it was before I put him in the tank or if something got ahold of him. My question is will the fin regrow at all or ?

hard to say.. if there's nothing there, it could possibly grow back, but chances are that it will grow back deformed, usualy curved or kinked.

in most caes it will normally regrow if the bone of the finlet is still intact, only problem is how long will it take to recover fully, sometimes it takes months

Thanks for the info. I don't even see the bone for the finlet there, just a space where it should be. I think it and my senegal may have gotten into it the first night they were together fighting over a hiding place b/c my senegal wound up with a spot nipped out of his tail the morning after I put the ornate in and thats when I noticed the finlet on the ornate. Absolutely no aggression at all now though.
