ok my friends oranda goldfish has fell ill in what seems to be fin rot on his dorsal fin all deteriorated but none of his of other fins are effected the it looks like it moved into his body from the dorsal fin its behind his head along the run of his back it looks like his scales in this patch have deteriorated left with his pink flesh left exposed could this possibly be neon tetra disease? or is body rot given the fact that this fish is act acting perfecting healthy and eating this has stumped me.....:irked:

Could you please add more details about your situation? I need to know more about this to find out the cause. It isn't NTD. Bacterial infection is the most likely issue here.

1. Size of tank?

2. Water parameters
a. Ammonia?
b. Nitrite?
c. Nitrate?
d. pH, KH and GH?
e. Test kit?

3. Temperature?

4. FW (fresh water) or BW (brackish)?

5. How long the aquarium has been set up?

6. What fish do you have? How many are in your tank? How big are they? How long have you had them?

7. Were the fish placed under quarantine period (minus the first batch from the point wherein the tank is ready to accommodate the inhabitants)?

8. a. Any live plants? Fake plants?
b. Sand, gravel, barebottom?
c. Rocks, woods, fancy decors? Any hollow decors?

9. a. Filtration?
b. Heater?

10. a. Lighting schedule? What lights are used?
b. Any sunlight exposure? How long?

11. a. Water change schedule?
b. Volume of water changed?
c. Well water, tap water, RO water?
d. Water conditioner used?
e. Frequency of gravel/sand (if any) vacuumed?

12. Foods?
How often are they fed?

13. a. Any abnormal signs/symptoms?
b. Appearance of poop?
c. Appearance of gills?

14. a. Have you treated your fish ahead of diagnosis?
b. What meds were used?

15. Insert photos of fish in question and full tank shot if necessary.

ok i try awnser to the best he does not have test kit
10 gal brand new just set 4 his oranda to be moved from a 2.5gal
he picked up some adoptees mollys I inspected them they were clean
he bought live plants anachandris i think its called
we did put some slate that we had broken up, it was throughly rinsed and scrubbed with hot water also has gravel
the fish became ill like two days later after being put in his new tank but I was stumped cause the the mollys were not not effected.
his filtration is a aqueon 10 power filter with carbon filter cartridges
no heater
the fish is currently in quarintine none of the mollys have shown any signs of the sickness

You didn't mention the water parameters. What are they?

Filtration?
Temperature?
How often is it fed and with what?
How big is it?

Orandas need a 20g bare minimum for the first fish and additional 10g for every goldfish added. The tank is too small for one. Details remain sketchy except the fact the tank is really too small for one and already overcrowded.

If I were you, upgrade the tank. If a large tank is not an option, then a tub is an alternative. Get the gravel out completely so you can keep the tank clean more easily to allow the fish to recover from infections. Bad bacteria can harbor deep substrate very easily especially if it is not thoroughly vacuumed for debris.
