Had a nitrite spike in my tank. Ammonia was 0. I've done two large water changes and nitrite is now 0. It's a planted tank/aquaponics setup. So the nitrite spike was quite a surprise to me. I've added water hyacinth to deal with it. However my banjo catfish have a real bad case of fin rot. It's like they're sheading their skin. two already died. very white in color on half their body. I have 49 2" clown loaches in the tank. yes, fourty nine. The tank has been treated with 1tbs salt per 5g. At my immediate disposal I have a large bottle of prazipro beside me. Recommended treatment? No clown loaches at the moment show any signs of fin rot. But the banjos look horrible. Banjos may have been slightly poisoned in their last tank due to black dirt npt that contained wood chips, wood oil, antifungals, and who knows what else.
