i have a 2" long fresh water angel. he has some perty severe fin rot his top dorsal fin has become two separate fins! i am hesitent to add a fungus and bacteria medication because my tank is perty new and i dont want to add medication that will hinder the bio-filtration process. non of my other fish show any signs of it. will the fin rot naturaly go away with some time or is this a something that has to be treated?

did you confirm its fin rot,do not mistaken it with split fins, currently i have mine fish on treatment on malachite green and salt for fin rot.

post some pics, how long has the tank been cycled or runing

unfortunatly my digital camera is in the shop, but the angel's dorsal fin at the top has begun to sag and wont stand up like it did and should but in addition to that there is a break in the dorsal fin. it is split nearly to the body in a solid line and the same is true of the bala's fins and rear fins on the angel. this began in my old 30 gal tank but i just moved them into a new 75 gal tank (i fear that the added stress of a new environment has made the situation much worse) the new tank ive only had up since friday

ya i think puting them in the new tank isnt gonna help if that tank has only been running since friday, u might wanna think about moving them back to a tank thats cycled and try and tread them. well with out picsi cant really help u very much. do u have other fish in the other tank bc if so i dont know what do bc what they might have might spread to them. see if u can use someones cams, try and talk to guppy and explain to him what it looks like he always has a way to fix fish, good luck

Different meds take different treatment lengths so follow the directions yours came with.
Furanase, Furan-2, Maracyn-2, Neoplex, or Binox should all work safely with knifefish
